Moffett was founded by Cecil Moffett in 1945 in Clontibret, County Monaghan, Ireland, initially as a small engineering workshop building agricultural machinery. The company's defining breakthrough came in 1986 with the Moffett Mounty, a compact three-wheeled forklift that could be mounted on the back of a delivery truck or trailer, taking up minimal load space, effectively creating the modern truck-mounted piggyback forklift category.
